#4 Oklahoma – 28
NORMAN, Okla. -- Bob Stoops was able to get a first round win as the Sooner defense overwhelmed the inferior Bobcat squad. Ohio was 0 for 5 on third down and 0 for 2 on fourth down, combined with two turnovers. Boomer Sooner was also clicking on the offensive side of the ball as well. Landry Jones was able to connect with both his favorite targets, Ryan Broyles and Kenny Stills at will. Jones threw for a total of 267 yards and three touchdowns.
Ohio was able to put up a touchdown in garbage time, yet Orange's early dominance of the tournament continued to shine despite the minor blemish.
This result also set up the first determined round-of-32 match up, as Oklahoma advanced to play #36 Utah. Green's Utah Utes rallied to beat the Cincinnati Bearcats in a thrilling first round contest that required overtime. Green and Utah will have to slow down the clock to limit possessions, while getting off to a much faster start to hang with Orange.
